Information for New Parents
| One of our main outreach programs is designed for new parents of a child with
Down syndrome. This can be an especially anxious time for most new
parents, so we strive to provide you with as much information as possible about
Down syndrome and connect you with resources to help you.
We are currently stocking hospitals and birthing centers
in the Puget Sound area with Down Syndrome Community New Parent Packets.
These packets contain information from the National Down Syndrome Society,
National Down Syndrome Congress, ARC of King County and other sources.
New Parent Packets are one of our most important pieces of education,
communication and advocacy, designed to give new parents enough information
to help them out, but not so much that they feel overwhelmed. New
parents take the packet home with their new baby as a start of their
collection of reference material on Down syndrome. Much of this
information is also available on the web -- see links below. |

For more information, contact Louise Avery, Vice President of
Community Relations at

Sponsoring a New Parent Packet is easy! $16 covers the costs of
materials, printing and distribution of each packet, ensuring a positive
message reaches the new parents of a child with Down syndrome. Sponsor a
packet today by sending your check to:

DownSyndromePregnancy.org
is a non-profit organization that offers support to expectant parents who
have received a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis and are moving forward with
their
pregnancy.
The material is not appropriate for women who are
still weighing options about their pregnancy because it infers that a woman
will be continuing a pregnancy to delivery and beyond. |
