 WHAT: The Buddy Walk®... The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2011 worldwide. In 2010, more than $11.2 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome

Co-sponsored by the Seattle Center, the 15th Annual Puget Sound Buddy Walk® is hosted by the Down Syndrome Community (DSC) a non-profit organization committed to building a caring, supportive community through networking, educational seminars and social programs that cultivate friendships which positively impact families in the Puget Sound area.

WHEN: Puget Sound Buddy Walk® is from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 2nd 2011

WHERE: Center Square, located on the north side of the Seattle Center Campus, near the foot of the Space Needle.  This is the same location as 2010!

The Puget Sound Buddy Walk® is a short walk around the International Fountain and is open to participants of all ages and abilities.

WHO: Children, teens and adults with Down syndrome, family members, friends, teachers, healthcare professionals, teams and members of the community are all welcomed to join in the fun!  Come one come all;

WHY: October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month and more than 300 Buddy Walk® events will occur throughout the United States. After the walk, you and your family will enjoy entertainment for everyone, including music, dancing, face painting, a fishing booth with prizes, clowns plus photography, art and jewelry created by local artists with Down syndrome.
